ICE Commander Claims Americans Love ICE on Live TV — Gets a Harsh Reality Check from Host

We have officially reached the point where the Trump administration is just making things up as they go along.

It is honestly impressive how committed they are to living in a completely alternate reality.

Border Patrol Chief Greg Bovino went on television Friday to convince us that everyone actually loves ICE raids.

Yes, you read that right.

According to him, the mass deportations are a total hit with the public.

But the host at NewsNation wasn’t having any of it.

The Numbers Do Not Lie

Here is the reality check that Bovino tried desperately to ignore.

As of this week, public support for President Donald Trump’s immigration policy has absolutely cratered.

It is currently sitting at minus 8 points.

That is a staggering drop of 26 points since last January, according to the data cited by the original article.

You would think those numbers would be a wake-up call.

But for the MAGA crowd, facts are apparently just suggestions.

When NewsNation reporter Leland Vittert pressed him on this, Bovino just shrugged it off.

Vittert put it plainly:

“There has been a marked change in public opinion – now, we can discuss why, but the change in public opinion is real,” he said.

He then asked the million-dollar question:

“How do you explain that?”

The “Secret” Fan Club

Instead of admitting that maybe, just maybe, people are horrified by mass deportations, Bovino got creative.

He claimed that he sees “fantastic public support” in cities like Los Angeles and Chicago.

Apparently, people are walking around giving ICE agents secret thumbs ups.

I am not joking.

Bovino told NewsNation:

“Here in Minneapolis, a lot of thumbs ups and a lot of ‘good jobs.’ Now, a lot of it is under their breath because they are afraid of the 5% or 10% of agitators and rioters.”

So the narrative is that everyone loves them, but they are just too scared to say it out loud.

Right.

Because nothing says “popular policy” like having to whisper your support so the imaginary rioters don’t get you.

Even the Host Couldn’t Keep a Straight Face

Leland Vittert was visibly confused by this nonsense.

He immediately jumped in to stop the gaslighting.

“Come on, commander!” Vittert said.

He continued with a dose of reality:

“You know as well as I do, there’s a lot of fair-minded Americans who don’t like seeing how the sausage is made.”

It was a rare moment where a host actually called out the absurdity in real time.

But Bovino wasn’t done spinning yet.

Blame the Media (But Not the Nice Ones)

When cornered, Bovino went to the classic Trump playbook.

He decided to blame the media for making the “sausage” look bad.

But he was careful to kiss the ring of the outlets he likes.

He told NewsNation:

“You’re talking about sausage being made: that sausage is not being made by a vast majority of the news media.”

He then added this gem:

“You guys do a great job, Fox and some of the others, but the vast majority do not, so when we’re talking about sausage being made, it’s not being made!”

So there you have it.

Unless you are Fox News or the outlet currently interviewing him, you are making up the bad news.

The polls are fake, the outrage is fake, and the secret whispering fans are real.

Welcome to Trump’s America.
