Here we go again, folks.
Another day in the “great again” timeline, another federal agency seemingly caught playing dress-up with the truth.
If you were holding your breath for the Department of Homeland Security to actually be honest about a shooting, I hope you have good health insurance.
The Official Story (Or: The Fiction Section)
So, here is the setup.
Federal agents killed a protester in Minneapolis on Saturday morning.
Almost immediately, the DHS social media team jumped into action, probably typing with one hand while clutching a flag with the other.
They posted that the individual “approached US Border Patrol officers with a 9 mm semi-automatic handgun, seen here.”
They even included a nice, scary picture of a gun.
They claimed ICE shot him in “self-defense.”
Because nothing screams self-defense like federal agents in full tactical gear facing down a citizen, right?
Roll the Tape
But wait, there is a plot twist that the MAGA crowd is going to hate.
New video is flooding social media, and it looks like the DHS narrative has a few holes in it.
Actually, it has giant, gaping chasms.
The footage appears to show the man holding a phone, not a weapon.

It looks like he was just holding a rectangle of glass and plastic in the moments leading up to the shooting.
I know, I know.
To a terrified federal agent, a Samsung Galaxy can look terrifyingly like a Glock if you squint hard enough and really want to shoot someone.
The Witness Account
The internet is doing the investigative work that the feds apparently forgot to do.
The X account of @TheJFreakinC put it bluntly.
“NEW Video shows moments before ICE/Border Patrol agents executed the man in Minneapolis, as he lay motionless on the ground. In the video, a 51 year old the man was filming agents when they come over and push him, with only his phone in his hand. No gun, no threat. Just a man exercising his first amendment right.”
That sounds less like “self-defense” and more like “we don’t like being filmed.”
Silence is Loud
So, what does DHS have to say about this inconvenient video evidence?
absolutely nothing.
They haven’t commented on the new video yet.
They are probably too busy scrubbing their timelines or figuring out how to spin a cell phone into a weapon of mass destruction.
They are holding a press conference on Saturday, which I am sure will be a masterclass in gaslighting.
Confusion and Chaos
Local officials are trying to make sense of the mess.
At their own press conference, they said they believe the deceased is a 37-year-old white male citizen living in Minneapolis.
Note the discrepancy with the age mentioned online; clarity is apparently too much to ask for right now.
Meanwhile, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey is shouting into the void.
The Democrat renewed his call for President Donald Trump to remove ICE from his city.
Good luck with that, Mayor.
Asking Trump to de-escalate is like asking a pyromaniac to guard a fireworks factory.
The Tragic Context
Let’s not forget why people were in the streets in the first place.
Protesters have been clashing with federal agents since an ICE agent shot and killed 37-year-old mother Renee Good earlier this month.
That is the reality we are living in.
Mothers are dying, protesters are dying, and the “law and order” administration is posting JPEGs of guns to cover their tracks.
Welcome to the new normal.
