Jen Psaki just absolutely dismantled the latest right wing fairy tale.
On Friday’s edition of MS NOW’s The Briefing with Jen Psaki, the host took a sledgehammer to the Trump administration’s narrative regarding the tragic killing of Renee Good.
You know the narrative I am talking about.
It is the one where President Donald Trump and his cronies call a slain mother a “domestic terrorist.”
It is the one where they desperately try to justify an ICE agent named Jonathan Ross gunning down a woman in the snow.
Psaki called BS on these “disgusting and ridiculous” claims.
And she did it with receipts.
The Right’s Desperate Video Breakdown
The right wing ecosystem has been losing its collective mind over a new piece of video.
According to Psaki, a right wing outlet was the first to publish footage filmed by the shooter himself.
They seized on this shaky, chaotic footage like it was the Holy Grail.
They claim it vindicates the agent.
They claim a loud noise and a camera fumble prove Renee Good hit the agent with her car.
Psaki, however, actually watched the video with her eyes open.
She noted that while she isn’t a crime scene expert, the combined footage from multiple angles paints a very different picture than the one being peddled on conservative cable news.
“I’m Not Mad At You”
Let’s look at the actual interaction before the chaos.
The new video shows the shooter walking around Good’s maroon SUV.
Good is calm.
She is not acting like the monster J.D. Vance wants you to believe she is.
She actually speaks to the agent.
“That’s fine, dude, I’m not mad at you.”
That is what she said.
She pulls forward.
She gestures for another vehicle to pass.
Then two more federal agents hop out of a silver pickup truck to escalate the situation.
Good tries to tell them to move.
“Go around.”
The agents were not interested in going around.
“Get out of the car! Get out of the car!”
Psaki points out you can hear them tell her to get the “F” out of the car.
Good backs up.
She turns her steering wheel clearly in the opposite direction of the agents.
She begins to drive forward, away from them.
The Three Second Myth
Here is where the MAGA defense falls apart.
The right has latched onto a five second clip where the shooter’s camera goes wonky.
“Whoa!”
Then gunshots.
Psaki explains that if you sync this up with other angles, the car does not appear to run the agent over.
His feet are positioned away from the car.
The car is heading away from him.
The “impact” sound the right is obsessing over?
Psaki suggests it is likely the sound of the phone rubbing against his body as he fumbles it to fire his weapon.
Imagine that.
Using a cell phone while on duty in a supposed life threatening situation.
It is almost as if they were not actually afraid for their lives until they decided to start shooting.
The Cruelty Is The Point
The video audio reveals something truly vile about three seconds after the shots were fired.
“Fucking bitch.”
We don’t know who said it.
But it was said over the body of a woman who had just been shot three times.
Did the agents rush to save her?
No.
The shooter slowly walks back to his buddies.
“Hey, call 911!”
Bystanders were screaming at them.
“What did you do? You! Shame! Shame! Shame!”
A doctor on the scene tried to help.
He identified himself as a physician.
The agents did not care.
“No! Back up, now!”
The doctor insisted.
“I’m a physician!”
The agent’s response is chilling.
“I don’t care.”
They claimed they had their own medics.
“Listen, we understand. We’ve got EMS coming, I get it, just give us a second. We have medics on-scene. We have our own medics.”
Spoiler alert from Psaki: They did not have medics on the scene.
It took more than six minutes for help to arrive.
Walking Away From The Crime
It gets worse.
The New York Times reports that several agents, including the shooter, just got in their cars and drove away.
They left an active crime scene.
They left a 37 year old mother of three bleeding out.
This is the woman Vice President J.D. Vance called a “tragedy of her own making.”
This is the woman Trump called a “domestic terrorist.”
A woman who told the man who would kill her, “I’m not mad at you.”
Jen Psaki is right.
These claims are disgusting.
And thanks to this video, we know they are ridiculous.
