You almost have to feel sorry for them. Almost.
Congresswoman Nancy Mace recently went on Newsmax to air some dirty laundry, and honestly, the vibes were bleak.
In an interview on Wake Up America this Wednesday, co-host Sharla McBride asked the question keeping GOP strategists up at night.
She asked, “Are you confident Republicans can hold on to the majority come November?”
Mace didn’t even try to sugarcoat it.
“Well, no, I’m actually not,” Mace admitted.
Not Extreme Enough?
Here is the funniest part.
Mace isn’t worried because her party has spent years alienating women and minorities.
She thinks they are losing because they haven’t gone full MAGA fast enough.
“I feel like we could do a lot more,” she said.
She complained that they are running out of time to force through Donald Trump’s wish list.
“We don’t have a lot of time to, I believe, implement all of Donald Trump’s agenda,” she told the Newsmax hosts.
She noted that primaries are starting soon, with Texas leading the charge in March.
Her verdict?
“And I don’t believe we’ve done enough.”
Apparently, the chaos wasn’t chaotic enough for her taste.
Abandon Ship!
The irony here is rich enough to cause gout.
Mace is complaining about holding onto the House majority, yet she is part of the problem.
She isn’t even running for re-election.
Instead, she is ditching the House to run for governor of South Carolina.
She is just one of 25 sitting House Republicans who have decided to pack their bags and not seek re-election.
It is hard to keep a majority when everyone is rushing for the exits.
Rigging the Maps
Since they can’t seem to win on policy, the strategy has shifted to good old-fashioned cheating.
According to the report, President Donald Trump has been busy.
He has “encouraged gerrymandering efforts across the country” to draw districts that favor the GOP.
Basically, if you can’t get the votes, just change the map.
But even that sinister little plan is flopping.
Experts say these efforts have had mixed results, with only minimal gains for Republicans.
The Cult of Personality
Despite the failures and the exodus, Mace is still singing from the same hymnal.
She insists the only path to victory is blind obedience to Trump.
Get a load of this quote she gave Newsmax.
“Everything he has said has been the best idea for the country,” Mace said.
She actually said that with a straight face.
She continued, “He’s gonna go down as the best president of the United States.”
But she is terrified that the Senate is going to ruin everything.
She calls the Senate the “bottleneck” holding up the agenda.
“I don’t wanna see the House or the Senate… holding up his agenda and ensuring that we don’t win the House,” she said.
She ended on a gloomy note.
“I’m very concerned about the midterms.”
So are we, Nancy. But for very different reasons.
