Donald Trump is back at it with the pardons, and let me tell you, the bar is officially in hell.
Among the lucky winners of a get-out-of-jail-free card this week was Adriana Camberos.
She is a repeat customer who Trump actually pardoned during his first term.
But apparently once was not enough for this “winner.”
She was convicted in another fraud scheme, so naturally, she got another pardon from her favorite president.
You absolutely cannot make this stuff up.
Starving Kids vs. Saving Crooks
On Friday’s edition of CNN NewsNight, things got rightfully heated over this mess.
Anchor Abby Phillip pointed out the glaring, nauseating hypocrisy on display here.
The administration is currently trying to rescind federal dollars for kids to eat in schools.
They are cutting funding for small businesses and health and human services too.
They claim they are doing all this cruelty to go after fraud.
Yet, in the same month, they pardon a fraudster who did it twice.
As Phillip put it: “Does it make any sense to you that they would then in the same month, pardon a fraudster who had already received a pardon and went back and did another offense?”
Even conservative panelist Scott Jennings had to agree it was a terrible look.
He admitted: “If you’re go after fraud on one hand, and give leniency to people who have committed fraud on the other, this will create an optics issue for you.”
Yeah, just a little “optics issue,” Scott.
The Cult Excuse
Then came Trump defender Pete Seat with the mental gymnastics of the century.
He tried to explain why Trump let this woman off the hook again.
Seat claimed the argument being made was that it was a political prosecution.
He actually said: “President Trump feels a special kinship with people who claim to be politically prosecuted.”
A special kinship with fraudsters?
That tracks perfectly for the MAGA brand.
Cross Loses It
Author Tiffany Cross was simply not having any of it.
She absolutely flipped out on Seat for trying to normalize this nonsense.
She shouted: “Oh my God. Oh my God. Like, are you kidding me? Are you kidding me?”
She hit the nail on the head regarding his so-called analysis.
Cross fired back: “No, not analysis … idiotic cult regurgitation is ridiculous to hear.”
Finally, someone said it out loud on national television.
Facts Don’t Care About Your Feelings
Abby Phillip had to jump in to school Seat on the actual timeline of events.
She noted that the investigation into this second charge was initiated in 2020.
That was while Donald Trump was still President.
So the whole “political persecution” narrative falls apart immediately.
Seat tried to pivot by saying: “I didn’t say that she was. I said that she’s making the case.”
But Phillip was not letting him off that easy.
She reminded him that Trump has access to the best information on the planet.
He should have the discernment to see through a con.
Phillip asked: “Why is it that the bar is so low for the President of the United States that we can’t even have that conversation?”
Because in the MAGA cult, the bar does not exist.
