Alec Baldwin Slams Elon Musk for Attacking Lupita Nyong’o’s ‘The Odyssey’ Role

Alec Baldwin has publicly backed Lupita Nyong’o following criticism from Elon Musk over her role in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film The Odyssey.

Recent reports confirmed that the 43-year-old Academy Award winner will portray Helen of Troy and her sister Clytemnestra in the new adaptation directed by Christopher Nolan.

Musk repeatedly objected to Nyong’o being cast as Helen, a figure from Greek mythology traditionally described as the world’s most beautiful woman.

The backlash intensified after conservative commentator Matt Walsh posted on X that no one genuinely believes Nyong’o fits that description and accused Nolan of avoiding criticism by not choosing a white actress for the part.

Walsh also claimed the filmmaker was “too afraid to do anything that even slightly challenges the spirit of the age.”

Musk responded to the post by writing, “True.”

In a separate message, Musk said Nolan had “lost his integrity” because of the casting decision.

After Musk’s remarks began circulating widely online, Baldwin stepped in to defend Nyong’o on Instagram.

“Dear Elon… but she IS the most beautiful woman in the world,” Baldwin wrote alongside a photo of the actress.

Nyong’o previously received the title of People magazine’s “Most Beautiful Woman in the World” in 2017.

The Odyssey is scheduled to arrive in theaters on July 17, 2026.
